Getting help

The fastest way to reach us is to open an issue. Say which iPhone you have, which iOS version, and what the camera was set to when it went wrong — the information pane (the ⓘ key in the top row) lists all of it in one place.

Where things are

• The numbers — ISO, shutter, white balance, exposure, focus and iris sit above the shutter. Touch one to take it off automatic and set it on the ruler; touch it again to put the ruler away.
• Everything else is in Settings, grouped in five tabs: Photo, Video, Audio, Monitor and System.
• Hold the meter and focus with a long press on the picture. To hold only one of them, use Settings → Photo → Focus & Metering.
• The focus magnifier (Settings → Monitor) blows the picture up while the focus ruler is open, so you can see the moment focus lands.
• Check the camera against your hardware with Settings → System → Hardware Self-Test. It sets every control this iPhone has, reads it back from the sensor, and reports what passed.

Common questions

Why is RAW greyed out on some lenses? Bayer RAW needs a lens that reports it. Where the hardware does not offer it, the Format control says so rather than failing at the shutter.

Where do my photos go? Into your own photo library, and into a ProCam album when you allow full access. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

What is the ProCam developer? An alternative to Apple's processing: a scene-linear pipeline that develops the sensor's own data. Settings → Photo → Developer switches between them.
